I think writing is a very personal matter. You’re taking your thoughts and ideas, and you’re taking a brave step in sharing them with the world. Whether it’s about your dog, your religious beliefs, or how to end world hunger, I believe everyone’s writing is important. It gives you insight to who they are.

I have been writing nearly constantly since I got my first diary when I was just a little kid. I used to write in my diary many times a day, no matter what was going on. I would write during classes, right when I woke up (to remember dreams), and right before I went to bed. All throughout high school I was the “poem girl”…I had written many poems for people to give to their boyfriends or girlfriends, and people used to ask me all the time if they could read my poem notebook. I always loved my writing and english classes, all the way through some of the college I’ve taken. It’s an addiction I don’t care to cure.

I write because it’s therapeutic for me. It allows me to let my mind wander, and to create a story or world that’s different from my own. It’s my escape. I write to better myself; writing down what I need to do in order to create the life I want. Most importantly, I write because my heart tells me to. It tells me to let the world know who I am and why I am here.

I think if you have found something you love or are passionate about, you should do everything you can to hold onto that. For me, I’m passionate about my writing, and I try to make time every day to fit it in, because it’s my dream.

  1. I love this. And I love writing too. Some times I forget to blog and when I do get back, I get addicted all over again. It’s therapeutic and an expression of the inner feelings and thoughts. But I do find myself lacking in finding words to tell the story. I think I should get some books on poetry, find my style. 🙂 Thanks for writing

  2. I find poetry is such a personal form of writing; each person has a very different style, but no matter what, it’s always beautiful. If you read my currently blog, I have a link to a book you could buy, written by a really good friend of mine. Check it out, and keep writing 🙂
